Intellectual Property (IP) is a cornerstone of modern economies, powering innovation and growth. In the EU alone, IP-intensive sectors generate nearly half of the GDP, supporting millions of jobs and driving exports. As global and technological shifts reshape our world, a robust IP framework is vital to remain competitive and foster sustainable growth.
The EUIPO’s Strategic Plan 2030 outlines a proactive approach to meet evolving demands. This includes adapting to global shifts, supporting green innovation, and expanding digital and inclusive access to IP resources. By prioritizing sustainability, inclusivity, and technological advancement, the EUIPO aims to empower all innovators, helping them thrive in a rapidly changing global economy.
Strategic Drivers
The noteworthy development of the EUIPO from a small registration office to an agency with global reach in the last decades has relied on two complementary strategic drivers that continuously support our overall strategy – one internal, focused on improving the way we work; and one external, focused on establishing effective cooperation with external stakeholders.
These two drivers are ’enduring constants’ of the functioning of the EUIPO that find their justification in the specific nature of the EUIPO as an agency that delivers services directly to industry, as well as on its role to foster cooperation within the unique two-tier protection IP system in the EU. They will continue to be the basis for attaining our goals by providing the structural framework that supports the development and implementation of the strategy.
